Overview
The owners of J-STANDARD (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operate the platform jstandard.jp (the “Service”). This page explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.
We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
J-STANDARD is based in Japan and handles personal information in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
Information We Collect and How We Use It
When you register, we ask for basic information such as your name and email address. This is used to create and manage your account and to contact you about your subscription or the Service.
We also collect information related to your learning activity on the platform, including your selected JLPT level, course progress, quiz results, and time spent on content. This information is used solely to deliver and improve your learning experience.
We log general information about your browser and device when you visit our platform, including your browser type and version, pages visited, time and date of visits, and time spent on each page. We use cookies to collect information about you and your activity, recognizing you and remembering your preferences between visits.
We only send promotional emails to users who have opted in. You can manage this preference in your account settings at any time. Transactional emails related to your account and subscription (such as billing confirmations and service notices) will be sent regardless of marketing preferences.
Your Rights and Our Practices
- You may request that your personal information be accessed, updated, or deleted by contacting privacy@jstandard.jp. We will action your request promptly in accordance with the APPI.
- You may delete your account entirely from your account settings. All associated personal information will be removed or anonymized within 90 days.
- We use third-party companies to help operate the Service (such as Stripe for payment processing). These providers access your information only to perform specific tasks and are contractually obligated not to use or disclose it for any other purpose.
- We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, and access controls. However, no method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- If a data breach requires notification under the APPI, we will inform affected users and the Personal Information Protection Commission without undue delay.
- If J-STANDARD or its assets are acquired, or in the event of merger or business transfer, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide advance notice before any such transfer.
- Our platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies before sharing information.
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or platform notice at least 14 days before taking effect.
